PPP mode of Indian Universities

PPP mode of Indian Universities
DU has made headlines from last week. Students from all corners of the country were tensed over the 4 year degree program. DU is one of the prominent universities for its academics and social activity. It has given many politicians, academicians and professionals. It was the matter of 60,000 students who will opt for the glorious university programs. There were some respected professors talked wrongly about private universities mushrooming in India. He seemed very pessimistic about the new private universities in India. He was a representative of academic body and his speech made many viewers stand. Let us take a close look at Indian academic horizon.  Today we have 42 central, 285 state, 130 deemed, 13 open and 112 private universities.  In all we have 573 universities all over country, only 213 are listed in UGC list. We can see the sick state of affairs of the education.
India is the major work force country in the world. Do we know the reality? 1.5 million Engineers pass out every year and 1 million out of them struggle to get a respected job.  1 million MBA students pass out every year and half of them do not get an appropriate job.  We get 30,992 doctors every year. It means 1 doctor is for 1,700 people.
Infrastructure was and is a big issue for education. Out dated curriculum is another pivotal issue. Many a time when Indians encounter with foreign nationals and flaunt degrees, foreign nationals just get shocked. A guy who not able to draft a letter and do not have a sense of dressing and spitting on road possess a degree. It is not less than a miracle.
The very attitude of rat race is imbibed right from the beginning. In last decade education is considered as a business and every Indian capitalist opened their mandir (read shops) of education. It made clear by GR that education is a business and no more a service. When education is business and knowledge is commodity then with the help of cheap marketing it has to yield profit. There comes the role of advertising. Copy writers underlined their no. 1 school tag line with all wayward USP. Few old timers started wondering phenomenon.
All fake promises of global out look where teacher are not proficient and a futile attempt of building a persona of students for the brand of college.  Busy, working and helpless parents scrums to this lure of propaganda.
While taking a look at multi cultural and multi lingual society of Indian why can’t we design a new module? Where there will be equal opportunity for all students. This second decade of new millennium has come up with new opportunities in various fields. We need to redesign our education modules which will suit to the needs of Industry.  As everybody study to implement their knowledge learned in schools and colleges. In this way we need to discard many courses and theories of teaching and learning which hold no water.
Mobile telephony, smart phones and e-learning facility has challenged the conventional books, library, class room instructions and understanding methodology.  Today what teacher dictate is at the finger tips of student there is no need to buy or lent book or to stand in a queue.  This immense facility of knowledge has to implement in the betterment of mankind. There is no Guru Shishya parampara and no need of Gurukul. There is no telegraph and nobody write a letter. Post man is a metaphor of yesteryear.
Wind of change has gone all over sectors we need to come out of mold and need to privatize the educational sector. I believe there will be a day when Government will have its control for quality delivery from this university.  All posts of professors, readers and syllabus design will be done by industrial expert. Only a person who has proved metal in industry will teach in institutes.  CEO and CFO will design the syllabus this way the placement which is the ultimate aim of education will be achieved. By cutting full time and permanent jobs from education sector it will be more dynamic. Billions of Indians will have education of their wish without the rat race. There will be provision for scholarship as it will offer the tax exemption or corporate social responsibility. I believe the new government will walk towards the same.  Education will be a business for making potential students and not for minting the money.  University will be on PPP public private partnership basis. There will be 100% transference and 0% babudom.
